Our Laurette was budded from the plant growing in the Heritage Rose Garden in Pinjarra. The plant at Pinjarra was donated by South Australian nurseryman, Walter Duncan, who had collected it from a surviving plant growing the Adelaide Botanic Gardens in the 1960s. The blooms bruise easily and are often spotted. Perth, Western Australia, late Spring, 2022.

The petals are easily damaged and are often marked and spotted. Despite this they are charming and make a lovely display on the bush or as a cut flower. In our climate, Laurette blooms all year round and is lovely in winter. Perth, Western Australia, late Spring, 2022.

Prickles are rare on stems and canes. New canes can be armed with prickles but these tend to be shed as the wood hardens. Perth, Western Australia, late Spring, 2022.

It's not unusual to see flower stalks with three bracts rather than the more usual two - either two smaller bracts and a leafy bract, or one small bract and two leafy ones. Perth, Western Australia, late Spring, 2022.
