‘Brandenburg’ = Hybride de Thé… corolle plantureuse… cœur élancé et sa symétrie sans reproche… parfum, trop modeste… riche saumon orangé somptueusement ombré de rouge. Pourvue d’une longue tige, elle excelle en vase et en concours grâce à ses pétales larges et fermes… grand buisson droit, à larges feuilles vert franc, teintées de rouge au printemps… McGredy, UK, 1965.

Translation

With a long stem, it excels in isolation and in competition with its petals wide and firm right ... big bush, broadleaf pure green, tinged red in spring ... McGredy, UK, 1965.

Brandenburg. HT. (R. Kordes) A really good new rose with large shapely double blooms having a high centre. Deep orange salmon to orange red. Free flowering, with vigorous upright growth. [('Spartan' x 'Prima Ballerina') x ('Karl Herbst')].

p126. Dr. A. S. Thomas, New Roses in Victoria.
Brandenburg, HT. (B. Kordes, 1965) ('Spartan' x 'Prima Ballerina') x 'Karl Herbst'. Large, perfectly formed flowers of 40 petals in a colour somewhere between those of 'Montezuma' and 'Aztec', and darker on the reverse. Some people do not like the colour - to me it is attractive and unusual. Not easily damaged by bad weather. Nicely perfumed. Thin but strong stems on vigorous, upright plants. A very fine cultivar.

Brandenburg  HT. (Kordes) The outstanding HT. variety introduced in 1965 which has been very well received by both exhibitors and rose lovers generally. Deep salmon with a darker reverse, large well formed flowers with broad leathery petals. A tall upright plant which rates highly for mildew resistance.
