'Margaret' rose Reviews & Comments

Does anybody grow this? I got one at a local nursery and was surprised when it bloomed to find subtle stripes which were not visible in any of the photos or mentioned in the few books that depict this almost forgotten rose. I thought perhaps I had gotten a mislabeled plant (not the first time!) and returned to the nursery to inspect whatever Margarets they had left. All had blooms like mine. If anyone grows this, please tell me if yours has stripes.

I don't grow it, but wish I did. Are you somewhere where you can send me cuttings? (I'm in California) It's listed as a pink blend, but no mention of stripes. Is yours very fragrant ,a vigorous shrub, and a long lastng cut flower? Thanks,Janet Sclar

Dear Janet, Sorry, I live in Japan. In any case, many of my pot plants were severely debarked by mice this winter who made a holiday home under the deep snow amongst my sleeping pot roses. My "Margaret" was one of those who didn't make it. It's really regretable, because I came to the conclusion that she probably wasn't Margaret, and is thus impossible to replace. You are in luck, however, because Vintage Gardens has Margaret in their collection, and you can order a custom-grown plant from them.
