Nancy Steen. A number of years ago, when motoring through Feilding...we saw an unusual and very lovely rose growing inside the gateway to a spacious old garden.....When it finally bloomed in our garden, we realised it closely resembled another rose 'Gruss an Aachen' (1909).....[which] made a low bush. Now the Feilding rose was over seven feet tall....we realised that the Feilding rose was, in fact, a vigorous sport of 'Gruss an Aachen'.

Climbing Gruss an Aachen (W. Kordes' Sons 1937). A climbing sport of the well-known, popular Polyantha rose Gruss an Aachen. The plant is a strong climber and has the large yellowish white, occasionaly reddish shaded blooms like Gruss an Aachen and is equally hardy. It will therefore find many friends as a climber. ....Low garden plants 1 piece RM [Reichsmark] 3.-   10 pieces RM 25.-
