Rosa Jacksoni is one of the numerous hybrids to which These two roses (Rosa Wichuraiana and Rosa rugosa) have given rise. It was raised at the Arnold Arboretum by Mr. Jackson Dawson, and was sent from thence to Kew in 1897; it is thus one of the earliest of the Wichuraiana hybrids. It is exactly intermediate between its parents, and is of graceful habit and good constitution, often making shoots seven to eight feet long in one season. It is extremely floriferous and is in every way an acquisition to a garden,

Magazine (27 Apr 1895) Page(s) 293. A new Rose. — Mr. Jackson Dawson, of the Arnold Arboretum, has produced from a cross between Rosa rugosa and R. Wichuriana a Rose which trails flat on the ground, with very thorny wood like rugosa, and with rugosa foliage in form and colour, with all the gloss of Wichuriana and flowers 3 inches across, of a fine light red. It is sure to be very useful in many situations. This is, I think, the first time it has been described. I consider it the most interesting Rose raised in this country for some time.
