Priors of Colchester had a distinguished career, in which they won the Nurserymens'
Championship of the National Rose Society, and bred two of the best Floribundas of
the 1930s 'Donald Prior' and 'Betty Prior'
 'Donald Prior' was crimson in brilliant degree, introduced in 1934, and bred from a seedling x 'D. T. Poulsen'. It was a leading variety for several years.

Donald Prior (Hybrid Poly.) should be excellent for massing. Its colour is the brightest crimson scarlet of about nine petals. It has stronger bushy growth than is usual for this type, good foliage and appears to be always in flower. A brilliant striking colour that would be very effective, especially where massed.
