I think this rose is the closest I can find to match the rose that the Washington Park has labeled as 'Columbia'. Especially the photos by Paul Barden. See the 'Columbia' photos. Two of us took photos, and note they do not match the others, the references, the ancestors listed, or the descriptions.

I think 'Columbia' was thornless.
'Dame Edith Helen' was thorny (1942 ref); or many prickles (1936 ref).

There appears to be a problem here. Misty Downs lists 880 roses as available today on their nursery listing here right now. Do they really have 880 varieties of roses propagated and available for sale?
It would be TREMENDOUSLY better for someone from Misty Downs to update their nursery listing here so when a potential customer searches for a source for a rose, they will appear in the "Buy From" tab listing. When you post this type of information here in the Comments section, it is quickly buried in all the other comments posted. Where you have put this is attached to the specific photograph of that rose. Unless the potential customer looks at the comments for THIS photo, they are highly unlikely to see Misty Downs carries this rose. But, if the nursery listing is made current, anyone who clicks on the "Buy From" tab will find Misty Downs listed as currently offering it for sale.
Please, if you are connected with or have any influence with Misty Downs, get someone there to update their nursery listing to reflect what is currently available for sale. You will be best serving Misty Downs and all site users by keeping this information up to date and not posting these "available from" posts in the Comments section. Thank you.

'Dame Edith Helen' is capable of producing some of the largest, fullest and most stunning blooms of any older HT I have grown. Individual blooms truly are a marvel. As some of the references suggest, this is not a fast rebloomer, but each one of these blooms are worth the wait.

I recall reading somewhere that 'Dame Edith Helen' was, for some time, the undisputed champ of the show table. Apparently, all you had to do was produce a good flower and you took home a ribbon. Your comment suggests this may have been true. Your photo certainly is mouth watering!

Would this rose work in a no-spray garden?

This would depend upon your climate and location. Most early Hybrid Teas benefit from a spray program, but you might be able to get away with it if you are in an area with low overall humidity.
