The Roses of 1882...
Abbé Girardin (bourbon, Bernaix) is a pretty, light [coloured] Bourbon-rose; fine form; expanded, expands easily and blooms faithfully, but has too thin petals, is therefore not lasting. Rank: 2-3.

Un autre semeur lyonnais, M. Alexandre Bernaix, rosiériste, 63, cours Lafayette à Villeurbane (Rhône), met au commerce cet automne une nouvelle rose dans la série des îles Bourbon, dont il donne la description suivante :
Abbé Girardin. — Arbuste vigoureux, fleur grande, pleine, bien faite, d'un beau coloris rose tendre satiné, à centre plus foncé. — Variété bien tranchée et à grand effet , aussi florifère que le rosier La France.

Another rose-breeder from Lyon, Mr. Alexandre Bernaix, 63, cours Lafayette à Villeurbane (Rhône), has introduced a new Bourbon rose to commerce this autumn; its description follows:
Abbé Girardin. — A vigorous shrub with a large, full, well-shaped flower of a beautiful, tender satiny pink color; the center is a bit darker. A very distinct variety, producing a grand effect, as floriferous as the rose La France.
