'Brigadoon ™' rose Reviews & Comments

Just posted a photo of Brigadoon in all its splendor. The photo is a first year plant put in the ground in mid/late-May, own root from Roses Unlimited. Like many reviewers below state (with the exception of one) Brigadoon is simply an awesome rose. If too many prickles bothers you I would say you picked the wrong hobby. I feel like Brigadoon is somewhat the Rodney Dangerfield of hybrid teas. No respect or in this case not enough respect. It was great when I first planted it in another garden 30 years ago and its great now. Vigor, foliage, good form on a long lasting bloom, some fragrance. In my garden you just can't beat this rose - again 30 years later.

Does anyone know if Brigadoon is fertile of either seed or pollen??

Brigadoon is my wife's favourite rose which we have grown since 1995.
It's shown to have 2 descendants with Brigadoon listed first so presume it makes hips.
There are no second generation descendants here on HMF
I'm going to use it this season for hips and pollen all going well.

Grew this one eons ago. My first thought: It's a beast of a rose. Very vigorous, with thick, razor-edged basals. Very thorny, and likes to grow up, over, and sideways. Not the typical vertical HT. Blooms a lot. Great substance and color. Bull-nosed blooms are common. Some BS. I liked it, but... I got fed up with the prickle issue + odd growth angles and crossing basals. Became a hazard to prune, so off it went into compost heaven.

I think that Brigadoon is going to work it's way into my heart and into my top 10 favorites with ease. I just planted it bareroot this past Spring 2009 and I am super impressed with this rose. It has been very vigorous growing and is beginning to start blooming. It's first several flowers have been downright gorgeous to look at!! The form is lovely and the subtle colors are breathtaking. They last a long time on the bush maintaining the beautiful color combinations for most all of their life. They make excellent cut rose for the vase in the home. So far, mine has been very disease resistant to BS even when other roses in the garden have a little bit on them. I do spray but this one stayed clean even before it got sprayed, so I am sure it will continue to stay clean when I start my spraying routine.
I wish I had ordered this one years ago so I could have enjoyed it for a longer time. I am pretty sure that I am going to be ordering more Brigadoon bushes whenever I put in orders for roses at vendors who offer it for sale. This is a terrific rose and I think more people should grow this one.

Saw your name with this rose. It has been the family favorite since we bought two in 2004. Added two in 2005. They take 115-120 degree heat in our dry climate. Check the photos I have uploaded.
