I had fond memories of Olympiad as I grew it as a kid. I planted one this past spring and had hoped for greatness because my other red hybrid tea I have, Chrysler Imperial, isn't my favorite. Well...I'm not as fond as Olympiad as I used to be. Is it a good red rose, honestly. But, it's smaller than I remember. There's no scent. It makes a good cut rose as they last a while in a vase, but there are better reds. Now, is it inherently worse than Chrysler Imperial that I have? Nope...but at least CI smells good!
Olympiad has never been for fragrance. It's a cuttable garden red, that grows in a lot of places. The darker red rim usually happens when it is quite cool. Olympiad can become pink-ish when it is really hot.
Pretty shade of red, not very vigorous though. A nice calm slow growing rose for me. No fragrance, however very pretty form and alone on a long stem. We will see how they do this spring and summer after this very cold winter, here in Denver.
