'Gelbe aus Riga'. Origin unclear. Egon Schiewe from Erfurt received this plant from an acquaintance, who had received it from "Someone from Riga". Foliage is like Paeonia delavayi and not like Rockii. Blooms large yellow with flares. Stephan Tetzlaff has erroneously classed it as a Hybrid Rockii due to its prominent flares, and the fact that the foliage is different from the American and French Hybrid Luteas which he knows. I have seen the mother plant several times at Schiewe, and she seemed to me to have quite small foliage. In 2006 I saw the plant at Giesslers on the field during Propagation, and the foliage there was definiely more vigorous and looked like a Delavayi-form. It is therefore either a Hybrid Lutea or only a Delavayi-form. I think it is incorrect to speak of "Yellow Rockii".
