In the mid-1990’s, while working on an experiment on rose germination he used the ‘Angel Wings’ seeds in the experiment and by spring planted out more than 80 plants. About five plants survived multiple years of extreme Wisconsin winters without protection and these five polyantha roses became the foundation of his future work with polyantha roses. The three new introductions area: Pretty Polly™ White (‘ZLEpoltwo’) forms abundant double white blooms on vigorous rounded plants with nearly thornless stems. The dark blue-green foliage is a great backdrop for the striking white flowers. I have grown this rose for years, first in a container and then in the landscape and it has performed beautifully in my ‘no spray’ garden.
