The guard petals are a creamy white, inclosing a central ball of sulphur yellow. If cut in the bud, as it begins to open, and developed inside away from the sun, the flowers will hold a clear yellow color, which is very beautiful. So far there are three good yellow peonies, Primevere, Laura Dessert, and Fanny Crosby. One year one of these may be the best, the next year it may be another, and still another year the third. They are all different in season of blooming so we need all three.
