Hi, I was wondering how this one compares to David Austin's Lady of the Lake; do any of you have experience with the two? My choice for looks might go to DA's, but it's possible that Ghislaine de Feligonde will live longer and happier (which is also an important consideration). I am in zone 6, so they are both hardy.

Wasn't sure if I was going to like this much initially. Portlandia threw slighty undersized (imho, for single flowers) blooms with week necks atop very tall (8+ ft) canes in it's first year. As it matures, it is proving itself a reliable trooper, forming blossoms further along its height. I love the color blend, and the fragrance has a hint of luscious sweet olive blossoms in its fragrance profile.
Health is definitely above average for me
A keeper, in my estimation currently. It appears to be outperforming Kordes' Quicksilver, next to which it is planted.

Hi Mike! My name is Eliott and I was curious about your cut of Old Lady Banks. I'm also interested in breeding banksiae crosses and would love to help preserve it if possible!

I'm quite keen on attempting to hybridize 'the monster' do you know if it's still around, and if so do you have any idea how amenable Mr Tunningley would be to giving out cuttings?

The Monster is extinct.

It's offspring, Old Lady Gates lives on and offers fertility. You might contact Mike Fitts as we propagated some for his use recently.

Mr. Tunningley no longer breeds roses.
