This rose has been rock solid and maintenance free in my hot humid upstate SC summers/8a winters. I don't think I have seen a speck of disease on this rose in the two years I have had it and this year we had a streak of almost daily rain for a month. It blooms freely and is almost constantly in bloom. Growth is compact and shrubby, perfect for a pot. The blooms hold for 3-5 days on the bush, but it reblooms so quickly it doesn't matter that they don't last long. The blooms hold form gets blousy after a couple of days, and the stems don't get long enough to take inside, so it isn't made for a cutting flower. It also is minimal to no fragrance. However, it is definitely a highly recommended rose, especially for beginners.

I am growing an own root WWII Memorial in a 20" pot. My SC summers are hot (90*+) and very humid and winters are relatively mild (8a).. This is my 2nd year with it and it has struggled both years with both black spot and die back. I don't don't spray regularly but did try a bicarbonate spray and Bonide Revitalize to see if I could help it along, but it has still struggled. I am considering ordering it as a grafted plant as I love the sliver glow and amazing fragrance, but it just hasn't been vigorous on its own root in my area.

Is this being sold anywhere in the world? It's just so stunning!

That parentage makes me very curious about how hardy it is (or more likely, isn't).

Website Errors and Problems
Initial post 13 OCT by Margaret Strathalbyn
Still some hiccups in the system. I tried to post 2 photos of George Elger, but only one came up. I tried several times to post the second photo separately, but I was told I needed to select a file to post, and to use the Browse button (which doesn't exist on that page on my screen). Then, putting this comment on, I couldn't see the Website Errors & Problems category.

Can you please be more specific. Providing an example of an attempt that failed helps us to replicate the issue.

I had the same issue as Margaret. It was really hit or miss whether photographs loaded. While loading photographs, images to the following roses failed: Signature, St Patrick, Falling In Love, New Hampshire, Kardinal, Bee Scene, Lions Rose, Neon Sunset, Werribee Park, Love's Gift, Blush Noisette, Violette and Rosa Luciae. Gave up after three in a row were unsuccessful.

I am still having trouble uploading photos. Randomly will accept one, then won't let me upload for the the rest of the week.

Also, I've noticed that if a comment is posted under a particular photo, that comment appears in the general comments section for that rose and not under that particular photo's comments, like it used to. For example I just posted a comment about a 2013 photo for 'Charivari' but if you click on the rose name it doesn't lead you to that photo.

We're still working on it.

Two more roses where photos do not load: Anne's Delight and Jamie Alexander. I have tried to load some of the previous list, but are still rejected.

Exactly what happens when you click the "Choose" button ?

Reply #11 posted 7 days ago by Patricia Routley

Johno is right.  It really is hit and miss.

Working down the Photo Upload page:

Choose file.

Add the photo subject matter

Then type in the Photo Comments

And then press Upload Now.

After about 5 seconds the Photo File name disappears, and No File Chosen appears.

You insert the file and hit upload. After some time you end with the same screen as above.

Another little problem: Tried to Edit a previous Missing Plant posting to correct a spelling error.

Page will open but will not allow me to type anything new or correct the error.

Slightly different type of bug:

I can sign in but as soon as I leave the sign in page the orange sign in/new member button reappears and it appears I am signed out. Even though my user name still appears by the "welcome:" I do not have access to anything that would require being signed in - cannot add/delete plants from gardens, limited access to content, etc.

Please email the support dept with more details so we can replicate the problem. In this case, we will need your account HMF information.

Oops, we have a problem; this unrecoverable system (14) error has been reported to the support department.`

This is the message that I get every time I try to update my "Plants Grown" list. I have probably about 50 to add, as I have expanded the garden and have been experiencing this repeatedly since the site upgrade. I don't know where to go to get help for this problem because I can't find anywhere to email or otherwise contact HMF Support.

Can you see if the problem still persists please ?
