How fast does this climber grow? I've had the climber 4TH OF JULY for 7 years and it's only 5 feet tall. I've had BERRIES & CREAM for 10 years and it's only 5 1/2 feet tall. On the contrary, I had Mme. DRIOUT for 3 months and I had to buy a trellis in a hurry because it was growing and climbing so fast. And I treated all 3 climbers the same way (watered, ferlized, etc.) I loved Mme. DRIOUT!!! Smelled so good, it's intoxicating and..... a repeat bloomer. Only problems are:
1) It was prone to rust
2) flowers are so big the small stems couldn't support them so they would always be droopy.
Unfortunately, it died last year. I don't know why. Might have been the frost. But I enjoyed it for 7 years!!! I saw CANDY LAND at KING'S NURSERY. By the way the cane and stems look it would probably be a slow grower like the 4th of July and Berries and Cream. (I'm starting to be able to predict how fast a climber will grow by owning these 3 climbers.) I don't want these. I want a fast grower striped rose climber that's also a repeat bloomer. Can anybody suggest a name?

Shadow Dancer grows faster than the above striped climbers you have mentioned. With that said, it is still a shorter climber like the above climbers that you have mentioned...

Oh ! 5ft in 7 years, that's really disappointing. I planted candy land and James Galway at the same time in the same conditions and James produced over a dozen new canes reaching app 6 ft and in the same time candyland produced three canes reaching 1 1/2 feet !
That said it is a glorious colour combination and the flowers, although miserable in quantity, stay on the plant for a month !!
It has zero fragrance but then that was year 1. Here's hoping for a better show this year
