In my zone 7 garden this plant grows to 9 feet tall by 5 feet wide. It carries five inch, exceptionally fragrant medium pink blooms on top. A very nice and robust plant that is not particularly disease resistant.
My Los Angeles bush is in it's 4th spring since I planted it from a 5 gallon pot. It's 51/2 ft, tall and just as wide. Over the past 1 and 1/2 mos, it has delivered 25 huge football sized flowers on long fat strems. There are still a couple of big buds coming up in the middle of the huge dead-headed canes. Some of the blooms were clear-toned hot pink, like Maria Callas on steriods (much bigger and fuller) and others were a darker, more blotchy red/pink, like Liz Taylor. The scent was usually VERY stong but the type of fragrance varied from sweet Mr.Lincoln to the heavy Frangrant Cloud type, occasionally with a eucalyptus overtone (like Phoenix and Mrs BR Cant). I have 2-3 hundred rose bushes which were planted over the past 20yrs, and this one is already one of the biggest plants and best bloomers-like Memorial Day. Stunning! The first 3 years' flowers were good to fair, but nothing like what I've seen this spring.
