Schöne von Holstein Polyantha. Good, reliable rebloom. No fragrance. Large, pyramidal heads of flower. Tantau, 1919. [provenance:] (San Jose Heritage Rose Gardens). Cupped blooms with heart-shaped petals in large clusters, soft cherry pink marbling to white within, lit yellow at the base, yellow stamens. Beautiful foliage of rich apple green.

[In 1919, Mathias Tantau (the elder)] introduced the first two varieties of his own origination... 'Schöne von Holstein' (pink) and 'Stadtrat Meyn' (red)... both seedlings of the Polyantha 'Orléans Rose'... neither was particularly successful...

Polyantha. Schöne von Holstein (Tantau 1919). Worthy counterpart to Kätchen v. Heilbronn, same height, incredibly dense in foliage and blooms, the most magnificent Polyantha. Giant clusters constantly cover the plant; beautiful bright pink.
