From the Krider Nurseries (Indiana) catalogue for 1935, page 10. Accompanying text reads: "Scorcher. A superb new climber with most unusual characteristics. Large, semi-single blooms of scorching red. A marked departure both in color and shape of blooms. In addition to the unusually heavy bloom in June, you can expect occasional blooms throughout the summer. Don’t fail to include Scorcher in your order for Climbing Roses."
