I just moved to Asheville in June of 2007 from Northern California...going from never ending alkaline soil and lots of sunshine to lots of acid and a sloped lot and lots of people telling I can't POSSIBLY grow roses (my all time favourites) tells me I have a LOT a learning to do before I despair, Have I come to the right place? Anything I can learn I would be thrilled to study,,,can someone please point me in the right direction???? thank you . Sara

Sara,
I am just South of you in SC. You CAN grow roses, and lots of them!!! I grow mostly own-root roses. I am also selective in that I select roses that have a high resistance to fungus since this area is notorious for blackspot. My back yard is a hill that I have converted into a rose showplace. I would love to help you!
