Malandrone Michele was born in Sessant d’Asti, Italy in 1889. In 1913 he emigrated to USA and here, in Oakland, spent most of his working life. He worked as a gardener at the Department of Buildings, New Court House and was member of the American Rose Society. In the early ’50 he returned to Italy and got married. He spent the rest of his life in his home village (Sessant d’Asti) where he continued his hybridization. He used to spend the winter in Sanremo. He died in 1976.
Your list does not contain the three varieties registered by Malandrone in November 1957 with the Stazione Sperimentale di Sanremo: Caterina, Michele, Matilda (nos. 310, 311,312).

Continuous flowering, 42-44 fuchsia-coloured petals, imbricate, good disease resistance, some petals have a whitish streak in the centre, vase-life about 1 week, very fragrant. Michele - HT, unknown seeding x unknown seedling, cross 1952, sown 1952, selected 1953. Continuous flowering, 29-40 carmine crimson petals, imbricate, good disease resistance, vase-life about 10 days, little scent. Caterina - HT, unknown seeding x unknown seedling, cross 1952, sown 1952, selected 1953. Continuous flowering, 85 petals, imbricate, overall colour like 'Rosa Hermosa' but lighter reverse (like 'La France'), the base of the petals is yellow, vase-life about 1 week, good disease resistance.
