Born in Plymouth, MA ("America's Hometown"), I went to Boston College and moved to Winston-Salem, NC in 1990. I bought my house in 1992 and, following an initial non-gardening phase, let myself get into it.

My grandfather was a nurseryman, and a commercial grower, so I suppose I must have some sort of gardening gene!

In the autumn of 2011, I lost my house. While that was difficult, oddly, leaving behind all of the many plants I'd nurtured for years was more difficult. I took many plants with me, and even went back and "rescued" some that the landscaper hired by the bank had run over with a mower. I'm trying to nurse those back to health.

As it's unclear whether I'll be staying here or moving to a different part of the state for work, all of my roses (and shrubs, and perennials) are currently in containers. Any hints on this type of rose culture would be MUCH appreciated!
