Purchased this as a 'rose in a bag' from either Walmart or Home Depot in 2024. Assumed it would be like an annual for me as I'm zone 5a. Bought it out of pity as it was a zone 7 rose and wasn't going to survive anywhere near where it was being sold anyways. Crazy thing though- it's survived a first winter despite having a rough start as a late clearance bagged rose and a lot of cane borer.
Did not survive first winter in zone 5b. Did get hit pretty hard by cane borer- so I replaced with another cheap Alfred Sisley from the bargain bare roots. Sealed the cane ends with glue as the last one was such a favorite with the borers. We'll see how this one goes.
Did not overwinter well in my zone 5b garden. Maybe has the smallest spot of green left on the crown - but I'll give it to middle of June to see if it bounces back.
Had a solid first winter here in zone 5. First rose with leaves for the year, it is in a slightly more sheltered location. Green 8" up which is pretty good as it wasn't much taller to begin with.
