Off on a tangent: I looked up St Ingbert and could only find a town - the nearest saint seems to be Engelbert.
A French academic Jacques Merceron published his research on saints who never existed, and the book, 'Saints imaginaires et facétieux', became a best-seller. (I don't know if St Ingbert is mentioned in it.)

The name is certainly due to the town, which is not far (86 km) from Lambert's nursery in Trier. The town was named after a Saint Ingobertus, who apparently lived at the end of the 6th century. As you mention, he is not an officially recognized saint of the church.

For some reason, Wiki only gives me English-language information! It must guess I have no German, apart from what you acquire by growing up in South Australia.

I see a search filter on the top right of Google main page which lets me choose between only German or all languages.
