I agree. I'm about to pull it. It has no scent, I don't care what they named it. This rose by any other name would have no scent.

Funny a vase full of them in my living room fills the entire room with fragrance.

Hi! Just out of curiosity, have you ever had your genes sequenced? For example, by 23AndMe.com? If you have, you can run it through the Promethase engine (https://promethease.com/ondemandlicense) and it will tell you if you have a genetic variant that disallows you to smell β-ionone, a floral fragrance. I have this variation (in rs6591536, also known as N183D or Asn183Asp) and a lot of the roses that some people say are very fragrant, such as JFK, smell like plain old florist roses to me. On the other hand, I can still enjoy roses like Chrysler Imperial, Mr. Lincoln, Angel Face, and Julia Child.
It would be very interesting to me if this is the case, you might have just saved me from spending a lot of money on a rose I can't smell.

Mine is definitely highly fragrant. Even in raining 55F weather, it is.

Well, the deer have decimated my garden this year, but interestingly this one seems relatively deer resistant. They will still eat the really new foliage, but they seem to avoid the older foliage. Both bushes I have have sent up more starts. I planted my Summer Romance in a rather wet area that other varieties such as Blue Moon barely tolerate, but it seems to live up to being blackspot and disease resistant. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the variety. Mind you, I'm not a serious rosarian, and the unpredictable weather and some possible depression have kept me out of my garden since September, so it's a miracle anything is still alive. Thank you for your interest! It really puts a drop in my happiness bucket.

I got Clara at Trader Joe's last year. First she got blackspot, but soon recovered. Now the Japanese beetles seem to think she's the prettiest girl at the party. The beetles just bore right into those fleshy little buds and make a little love nest for themselves. It's okay, she's tough: made it though the winter and remains as bushy as ever. She tries hard to maintain her shape and send up buds. In a way, I'm glad for her popularity with the beetles as she distracts them from some of my more precious roses on the other side of the garden.
The reason why I bought her, though, was for her interesting color. I really wanted a greenish-white rose and that's what she is. Unfortunately because of the beetle damage, I haven't been able to use her in any bouquets yet. I am considering putting organdy bags over the buds to protect them from further damage.
