I get chicken manure from Ace Hardware or from Menards, apply only ONCE in spring time. I make my own biochar by burning tree branches at low flame in a fire pit, then douse it to get black charcoal rather than white ash.

So beautiful. What garden zone are you in? Also, what do feed your roses? They are so beautiful. I garden in Zone 5b, in NW Illinois, USA.

Hi bellarosa, I'm in 8a (Southwest of Germany) and do not feed my roses anything. I'm happy you like Mel's heritage :-)
