One of my favorite roses of all time. I have nicknamed it “The Beast”. This climber thrives in our heat and is a huge plant! We have hacked it back a few times over the years and it comes back 10 fold. Make sure you plant where it is has lots of room as it can send out 10’ to 15’ canes, Can get a little black spot, mildew and rust, but I have never had to treat as it has easily overcome any bouts. Stunning color and strong fragrance. Nice foliage too. Nice cut flower too!

I have had this climber at least 5 years now. I think the Central Valley climate is to dry and hot for it to thrive. I am lucky to get a few bloom clusters, but either the scarabs get them, just don’t open fully, or the buds drop off before opening. This is the first year it bloomed later then normal and I was so happy to get a chance to enjoy this lovely rose. I think all the rain we received this winter/spring really helped. Healthy cans and leaves.
