Ashes of roses was the color of Meggie Cleary's gown in "The Thornbirds." It looked grayish pink.

The term "ashes of roses" dates from the 1920's and refers to a popular fabric color of a "greyish pink."

Recently I received a bouqet of a dozen roses purchased from a florist. The color is like none other I've ever seen. It is white, liberally and irregularly streaked and splotched with red down the length of the petals, and resembles nothing so much as a "parrot tulip." The blooms are of medium size and tea-rose shape, with very little or no fragrance. Can anyone identify this, please?

A photo or two would help. Just edit your post and add the photo(s).
