bc, canada - first year i do believe. blooms burn in hot weather, leaves are a mess with blackspot - hope this clears up when plant gets established. |
Abe Darby summer 08 - It's non stop blooming, not that I'm complaining :-) |

bc, canada - first bloom, first year |

Gold Medal purchased from...I admit and hang my head it shame...Home Depot.
This is one very beautiful rose, a big bush even in a container, and quite disease resistant most years. This year is has been prone to mildew due to our horrible wet and cold summer.
I'm not crazy about the smell of this rose as I am of the colors it presents. Buds start a raspberry sherbert, then deep deep yellow and bloom gradually fades to very pale yellow/cream. It last over a week on the branch but dies too quickly in a vase for my taste. The scent on hotter days is a mild tea, but most days smells like a plastic rose! I'd get rid of it if I had another big one like this to replace it.

bc, canada - first year, quite a bit of powdery mildew due to the rains this spring. blooms tend to scorch now due to the intense heat over canada day long weekend - 30+! yikes! |
(that's a bit of sulphur on the leaves to keep the molds away - since we had a very wet spring/summer so far) |
