I can second the Disease susceptibility comment. It is a mildew magnet when it's in part shade. Funnily, some people comment that it tolerate shade! However if it is in full Sun and dry climate, it's OK.

Rooting it requires good light, early morning Sun is best if rooting outdoor and misting is likely required if not done in Autumn or early Spring.

The ability to heal with callus is excellent. Chip budding is a pleasure on this understock as the sucess rate is excellent. Roses do not seem to have a lot of vigor on this rootstock. It's suitable to make standard because of the big size, straight cane and medium vigor for the budded roses. Even lateral shoots from a big 2yr basal can be used to make standards because they are simply huge!

Beautiful rootstock. A little too much suckering but apart from that it makes roses very vigorous. I note that there are a few strains of this rose and the green looking leaves suffer mildew badly. The yellowish green type with bigger canes have no problem with mildew.

Kardinal budded on Multiflora grows like an elephant! Most of my roses grow on Multiflora so well.

It roots well under shade without the need for bright light. Can root under florescent lights. Roots come out of the bottom 2 nodes more than than from the end of the cane.

The canes can be a little too slim for standards, it takes 1 year to thicken up after budding the roses on.

Excellent dark Pink (light Red) rose. Vigorous both as grafted or own root. Root its own roots very easily. Resist mildew extremly well but suffer black spot when there is too much humidity. When grown as tall standards it will resist blackspot fairly well.

Flowering well but sporadically. It's not a kind of rose that will flower continuously. I would say one flush every 2-3 months then a very quite period of regrowth and recharge. The canes are thick therefore if grwon as standards, hard pruning is required every 3 months in warm climate. It hibernate early in mmid Autumn to next Spring (too early!)

Extremely thorny! Otherwise a beautiful and strong rose with lots of long lasting blooms that resists even heavy rain. Good disease resistance overall.

Best budded on Multiflora, quite average to poor if budded on Dr Huey. If budded as standards, best done on the lowest standard cane as this rose is extremely vigorous with 80cm long and thorny basal shoots.
