Once again I have another Lidl bought rose that doesn't appear to be what the box said it was. It was supposed to be a Diamond Jubilee, but it's a lovely pink color. It's a small plant with very few thorns and bright green stems. The flower bud was a bright pink and once it bloomed it mellowed to a softer pink, but still much brighter underneath. Very little fragrance, certainly not like my Queen of England roses, although similar in color. If anyone wants a crack at it, that'd be great. (and thanks for naming my Mr. Lincoln!)

This photo doesn't resemble Bewitched at all, look at Queen Elizabeth.

Well, I have a Queen Elizabeth (or so I think I do.... Lidl rose also...) and it's been extremely fragrant this season. This one isn't so much, although it is a very similar color. They are 2 different plants.... could one be fragrant and not the other? (and what are the little color flecks on the edges of the flower? do they indicate disease or are they natural pigment changes?)

I would do an advanced search for medium pink, hybrid tea... and see what you come up with. Be prepared for a long search. smile This is probably a common pink so only look at roses with pictures. If HT doesn't produce results, then look at Grandiflora.
The pink spots are likely Botryis and it should clear on its own. Clean your pruners with bleach after clipping these blooms, or any like them and put them in the trash.

Is this really a Kronenbourg rose? It has some of the characteristics, but isn't particularly red in bits. It has a fabulous fragrant lemony scent. Long stems with few thorns, but prickly near the buds. About 18 to 20 petals per flower. Is it a Kronnenbourg?

So a few months ago I bought some root balls from a discount store called Lidl. They were marked with the type each rose was supposed to be. One of them was supposed to be a Virgo rose. I was really looking forward to the white blooms, but now that it's starting to flower, the buds are red. It certainly can't be a Virgo, but I have no clue what it is. Is there anyway I can find out what the variety is? I'll be glad to send photos of it to anyone who wants to have a crack at it. Amanda

The roses have several buds per stalk, relatively close together. The color is a cross between bright pink and red. Almost fuschia, but more red. They look like single blooms to me. http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j126/ajf185/?action=view¤t=UnknownRoseCUnoflash.jpg http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j126/ajf185/?action=view¤t=UnknownRoseCU.jpg http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j126/ajf185/?action=view¤t=Unknownrosebush.jpg
thanks amanda

What is the scent like? Is it growing tall and together?, not spreading out?
At first glance it reminds me of Mr. Lincoln

Well, the flowers have very little scent. The foliage stalks are long and straight with heavy reddish green stems and pink thorns. The flower stalks are green with very few thorns. It doesn't appear to be bushy. I looked at it against my other roses, and it isn't quite like any of the other ones. None of them have such a heavy stem. Does this help? A

Yes, I agree with you, Wendy, does look very much like Mr Lincoln, but if it has very little scent it can't be, can it? What do you think?

My Mr. Lincoln's have never perfumed the yard, add the hot weather and the scent could be mild right now.

Well, in that case you may be right! Certainly looks like it and Mr. Lincoln is perhaps the type of rose one might find in a shop like Lidl ...

Your observations are very helpful. Look at the listing for Mr. Lincoln. He has a very distinct growing habit, and it sounds as if that's what you have.

A friend of mine has a rose like nothing I've ever seen, and we don't know what kind it is. I don't have a picture, but maybe someone might recognize it from a description. The flowers are double, and are yellow on the base half of the petals, with a wide red edge, and with elongated yellow speckles (not stripes) all through the red part. Does anyone know what this might be?

Hi Carolyn, it is really hard to identify without a picture but could it be Harry Wheatcroft? a hybrid tea. Does your friend's rose look anything like the photos on the site of this rose? Good luck Jody

It could be a Tequila Sunrise. When they first bloom, are the inner peices of the rose bright yellow and pinky red at the outside? And then... does the red develop around the edges? Check the photos and take a look. good luck!
