Back in 1963, at age 14, I started growing and seriously studying roses. It almost became an obsession. By 1964 I became a member of the American Rose Society, and a member of the Garden State Rose Club (New Jersey). I started to exhibit in 1964 and won a gold medal certificate of the American Rose Society with queen of the show, with 'Mirandy'. My exhibiting continued, mostly with the Garden State Rose Club until I entered college in 1967. By the time I was 22, I had an article published in the American Rose Magazine, and the 1970 American Rose Annual.
Throughout the years, while having a family, establishing a business (art gallery), I have maintained a rose garden and a keen interest in roses. In 1987, my wife, daughter and I moved to beautiful Oregon, where, as I like to say, roses grow like weeds!
