I love the color, form, and fragrance of these flowers!! The fragrance truly does remind me of lilacs - glad to know someone else has thought so too.
Sadly, Always a Lady has no immunity to rust in our area, so she has been given to a friend outside the rose-rust belt.

Only rose that I'm aware of that clearly smells like lilacs.
Very full flowers too!

There are several others which have lilac fragrance in combination with other fragrances, however 'Lilac Dawn' and 'Scentsational' are described as lilac only. Try!

Lilac Dawn actually does have a scent reminiscent of lilac.

Two years ago, on a visit to the San Jose Heritage Rose Gardens, I was enthralled with this rose. The flowers reminded me of cherry blossoms, and they completely covered the plant. From that one glimpse, I'm amazed it's not in commerce.
Is there no information on who bred this, or when?
