Translation: Rosa inermis, follis septenis glabris, calycis segmentis indivisis; this variety, which is found in Switzerland on rocks and mountains, is decribed by Haller under 1107: the stem is only up to 4 feet tall, and divides quite into branches; it has only a few soft prickles, its foliage has large [Ansätze?] which are enclosed with glandular hair, and consist mostly of seven smooth and saw-toothed leaflets; the pedicels are furnished with small leaves [stipules] and stiff bristles; its large blooms are solitary, and have a good fragrance, a somewhat hirsute calyx, on which some severals have an appendage, and its corolla purple-red petals , which are white at the lower end:It is called Rosa rubella, flore parvo simplici, non spinosa by J. Bauhin.
