"Da Kernel", One of the founding spirits of the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, and among the original members of Gold Coast Heritage Rose Group, was the best possible example of what a Consulting Rosarian and "Cyber – CR" can and should be.
A born teacher, and a passionate lover of the Rose, no one could derive more pure fun from a Rose Rustle – or a noisy gathering of rose lovers than Mel did.
In 2007, Mel received a richly-deserved Presidential Citation from the American Rose Society, for his work with roses and the public.. Mel suffered from cancer and licked it once. It reappeared in spring, 2007, and no one ever fought a more gallant battle.
Mel will be missed by friends around the world.
