Hi, yesterday I went to my late great grandmother house in order to take pictures of some of her roses I am trying to identify, maybe someone could help me with this one. It is thorny, and must be approximately 1m70 tall, I trimmed it during my last visit, otherwise it doesn't receive any care, so it must be quite hardy, the summers can be very dry in the South West of France. I think it is between 30 and 70 years old, and I am not sure it is a repeat bloomer. There were no blooms nor buds last Autumn. Concerning the flower : the color goes from bright red to raspberry, inner petals can have a powdery shimmer that I never noticed on a rose before ( I can see that aspect on impatiens, as an example). The petals also seem quite translucent, but that impression may be due to the white wall behind it. The blooms are large and have a strong nice scent. Thanks, Thomas. Update : I have noticed the shimmer on some Fragrant Cloud pictures, but the receptacle is different ; very similar receptacle on McGredy's Olympiad, I am investigating its lineage. Similarities with Karl Herbst, but I cant say I recognize the flower, nor the sepals. .
