Thanks for the pics. Mine mildewed like that this year, too. My hips don't have as many prickles, but have a few. - Joe

The Virginiana had some heat and drought stress, but the mildew doesnt affect the whole plant, only the new grown tops. The rest is healthy and has even shiny foliage, as You might have seen on the photo's of the hips.
I always thought, that the mildew came from the oaks above, but it seems, that roses have their own string of mildew.

I'm glad you posted these Mildew photos Jay-Jay. I would have never guessed R. virginiana susceptible.

Mildew is the only fungal disease we deal with here in the low CA desert.

Thanks, Robert

You're welcome, Robert. Good to hear from You again after a silent period.
Despite the mildew R. virginiana grows like weed... especially on own root.

Yes, The Follies keep me hopping. (How did you know?)

I'm off now but will be back starting November 1st.

Fortunately I can still evaluate seedlings so I will know best those to carry forward. I did just a wee bit of hybridizing last year in spite of it all.

This is our final season. Till it's over, it's the same old song and dance. ;-)

Tried to send You a PM (to not discuss this in public), but You don't accept them.
Asked Kim some time ago, if all was well with You, for I hadn't seen or heard some time from You on HMF, so he sent me the link of P.S.F. Have fun with the performances!
Maybe more time for hybridizing next year.

Hi Jay-Jay, Yes, all things in time.

I'm making good progress with some of my hybridizing goals and should be better prepared to go forward after P.S.F. closes next May.

I just checked my preferences and they say I can receive PM's. I'm not sure why you are blocked. It seems I've had the same complaint from others. I'd be curious to ask you a few questions.

I'll try sending you a PM now. Thanks, Robert

Look at this Robert; this will be a braincracker for the HMF adm.

I'm sure it's just a glitch. Hopefully it's an easy one to correct. Thanks, Robert
