hi Patricia,

Regarding 'Chewperscent', I'm going to take a guess here and suggest that there may have been some mix up when this information was passed across, perhaps by non native English speakers at Petrovic, maybe over the phone when they recorded this information?.. as I feel there is sufficient phonetic similarity between Chew - pix - cel and Chew - per - scent, that someone somewhere misheard it and recorded it incorrectly. That's my idea I put out there. I still think it's the same rose [Open Arms], but I defer to you on that..

I hope the answer comes to light in due course..

best wishes,...

Is CHEwperscent the rose sold in England as 'Scent from Heaven'?

Thanks Marlorena. The next time you are in a nursery, can you have a look at a label and see if there is any code name listed for 'Scent From Heaven'?

[as an aside, I had a look at a couple of nursery websites last night and was appalled to see no code names, no breeders and no bred-date listed. Just rose names and a photo.)

hi Patricia,
..yes I will certainly look out for it, with a name like that I expect it'll be a popular rose...
..I don't think those code names are a great selling point... not very attractive, so they're not always shown...except for the Austin's and Harkness roses, etc... but I shall try to find out and get back to you at some point...

Thank you Marlorena. We will be grateful for any help. The code name is the only thing that should stay constant all over the world, whatever name the rose goes sailing under. I just don't know how the breeders can keep track of their roses these days.

Patricia,

Some time ago you asked for the breeder's code for a new rose called 'Scent From Heaven'. Well I have found the code, and I hope this makes you laugh again as you did the other day with 'Austritch'. Anyway this one is called 'Chewbabaluv'..
I thought I would post this information here as we were talking about it earlier, and there is no page for the 'Scent From Heaven' rose as of now.

Here's a link to the information about this rose for sale here from one of the sellers..

edit.. I've just noticed there is a page for 'Chewbabaluv' rose here at HMF, so perhaps 'Scent From Heaven' could be added to that. Incidentally, the name 'Barbara Ann' which is also shown as an alternative, was originally put forward as the name of this rose but was rejected as not being commericially suitable, and 'Scent From Heaven' was chosen instead. That's what I read about it recently.

I can find no rose of Mr Warner's with the code 'Chewperscent'. The photo of this rose posted by Petrovic roses looks like 'Open Arms' to me, which is 'Chewpixcel'... a patio climber.

Thanks Marlorena for info on 'Scent from Heaven' CHEWbabaluv.

CHEWpercent does look similar to CHEWpixcel, but seems to have a petal or two more than CHEWpixcel.
It would be good to hear from Petrovic Roses for more information on CHEWpercent.
