Margaret Furness.
Correction: the found Tea “Yallum Park Yellow” does set hips. Since I’m incompetent at pruning, I spent some time during the working bee at Renmark photographing hips. David’s meticulous deadheading hadn’t allowed us to do that in the past.

“Yallum Park Yellow”, collected from an old mansion in SE SA. The original bushes (photo below) may have been planted in time for the visit of two of Queen Victoria’s sons in 1880.  At Renmark the flowers often have red spots, perhaps due to the hot summer. They occur singly or in clusters, and have a light Tea fragrance. The leaves are long and narrow. Hips don’t persist. Well-armed, mainly on old wood. Medium spreading growth.

p48 "Yallum Park Yellow", Tea-noisette. Balls in damp conditions. Photo by editor [Margaret Furness] Both Tea-noisettes are at Renmark.

p61 Margaret Furness. Update on some roses. As Sue Zwar suggested at the outset, the "Yallum Park Cream" is nearer Noisette, and "Yallum Park Yellow" is nearer Tea. Neither matches any rose in commerce in Australia.

Pat Toolan. Barossa and Beyond Weekend Ramble.
Yallum Park, home of Glen Clifford whose family has owned the property since the early 1900's. Mr. Clifford met us on his ride-on which he uses to negotiate this extensive garden.....…. When we arrived at the other large bush ["Yallum Park Yellow" ] which I remembered as two bushes there was much lively discussion. There were a couple of misshapen poor flower examples. Pinkish red guard petals with clotted yellowy cream centres which needed teasing out to see. There were a few flowering stems still in bud and the new growth was a good red and the flowers buds were showing light yellow petals starting to unfurl. It was interesting to note that the last three leaves on a leaflet arched up at the point where the last pair of leaflets joined the leaf stem. Not all the leaves showed this characteristic but many did. In 1999 I wrote ‘Cloth of Gold?’ and I again feel this is correct.
