"Brownlow Hill Rambler" rose Reviews & Comments

I am now growing the Australian foundling “Brownlow Hill Rambler" and have seen just one season of flowering from plants in pots. I believe this rose is the 1901 ‘Edmond Proust’, or at least the rose known around the world under this name.
However, the 1902 reference for ‘Edmond Proust’ says “peduncle coming from a thicket of foliaceous bracts”. My rose has one or two bracts, but certainly not a thicket.
This 1902 reference also says the bloom size is 1 – 1½ inches. My bloom is about 2½ inches. Elsewhere (1926 ref) the bloom is said to be large; or medium (1928 & 1936)

In my garden the ramblers bloom in October, November and December. OCTOBER (early) ramblers are: Easlea’s Golden Rambler, Laure Davoust, Francois Juranville, Milkmaid, Heart of Gold, May Queen and Paul Noel. NOVEMBER (mid): Albertine, Auguste Gervaise, Probuzeni, Aviateur Bleriot, Jersey Beauty, American Pillar. DECEMBER (late): Dorothy Denison, Dorothy Perkins, Evangeline and Excelsa.
The two pots of “Brownlow Hill Rambler” are commencing flowering in early November. From the typical wichuraiana foliage, I would have expected them to flower in December. The size of my first (potted) blooms are 7cm. I note that the bloom size of the possibly identification of ‘Mme. Alice Garnier’ vary from 3-5cm.
