It is not scarlet in person, and the color is very stable. It is a dark red with a medium red sheen, but not a black red. There is no orange-red or light red visibly present. Sometimes in extreme August heat, a black-red burnish will show up on the edges of the upper petals.

This is a really good rose. It's essentially a very nice, round, and short floribunda with a nice color and very nice sprays. I highly recommend it for North America.

I still remember the first time I grew 'Lavaglut' and thinking, "Wow this is nice, but its naked and prickly. If only it werent I wouldn have to compost it." This rose is pretty much the same dimensions. The color isnt quite as dark but it is dark enough to give some drama to it.
