Parentage Summerwine x Seedling. Plants 34. Reports 25. Height Short to Medium. Garden 7.7. Exhibition 3.4 Health 7.8 (very good). Fragrance 3.1 (some). A very good garden rose that has eye-catching and novel blooms. The plants grow more like a shrub rather than a floribunda; maybe could grow as a climber. It has a spreading plant habit and the foliage is retained on the plant well into the winter.

Magazine (Jan 2011) Page(s) 5. Includes photo(s). [Back-Translation of "A Persian Story" by Chris Warner, translated into Dutch by Els de Krijger] About seven years ago i discovered at the back of the greenhouse a seedling with magnificent "eyes", descending from a crossing with E. 'Summerwine'. Different than most other breeders, who oculate their seedlings from the greenhouse, my seedlings go outside where they are allowed to grow on their roots for a while. The following year I immediately went to investigate, but could not find it; after a frantic search and the necessary prayers I found it, completely overgrown by a neighbouring rose. Its health proved good, it bloomed profusely and long and the single flowers had a beautiful blotch. It was propagated and was sent as 'CHEwsumsigns' (see cover photo) to my various agents in the trial grounds. I will watch for a while if it remains healthy; after that it will be commercialized.
