'Sutter's Gold, Cl.' rose Reviews & Comments

We had alternating warmth and chilli/windy spells in March/April 2022 and the plant struggled to get going, new growth suffering from setbacks. The first flush only managed a grand total of four blooms with little and none-too-healthy-looking foliage. I since moved the pot in which my plant grows against a south facing wall and the weather has now settled. The new growth is now much healthier looking and the buds that are being prepared rather more promising. My feeling is this plant likes it warm!

And again, despite some frosts, it's pumping out flowerbuds. Still it has almost all of its foliage.

Because of the long dry period, we experience the second flush right now. In contrary to the 5 flushes we had last year.

And still flowering at 2018-01-17! Even though it was snowing this morning and had some frost.
One might say (almost) continuously flowering during the season, which lasts and lasts.

Another-one is flowering right now and one flower-bud to come,they are accompanied by an Étoile de Hollande flower.... but frost is predicted for next week.
-6°C overnight.
How do Your roses do this winter?

We've had a much colder winter than normal so my roses have all finally given up on trying to do anything! But the relative of Sutter's Gold, Lemon Spice. kept trying to bloom even after the first few freezes. Even when we got close to O degrees F, they still have their leaves and green canes.
So very interesting that your SG is behaving similarly!

Daffodils and snowdrops already blooming, but no summer or even spring at hand.
I once heard, that normally Sutter's Gold Cl. doesn't stop blooming during "winter" in warmer area's like California and doesn't get a period of rest. It might have been confused by our (record-breaking) high temps during this winter.
I expect/suspect that there is somewhere in the parentage a rose, that would be evergreen in it's natural habitat and maybe continuously flowering.
