Shot Silk  for its delightful colour, fragrance and handsome foliage

p109.  Mr. Frank Penn.  Six Indispensables
Shot Silk (H.T.) (A. Dickson, 1924) —My last choice took a lot of thought. Many favourites had to be reluctantly turned down, bit Shot Silk's many good points at last prevailed,  it is delightful in all stages of blooming, exceedingly fragrant, with glorious foliage, quite free from all disease. With a few more petals and better lasting qualities it would have few rivals, but its lovely cerise colouring, shaded orange salmon, make it a great favourite. Magnificent as a decorative, and occasionally a first-class exhibition rose.

p114.  Mr. S. R. Bird, Auckland, New Zealand.  Six Indispensables
Shot Silk leaves no doubt as to its all round qualities of warm colour, fragrance, and rich glossy foliage. The climbing form is held in similar high regard.

p114.  Mr. F. Mason, Feilding, New Zealand. Six Indispensables
Shot Silk is a rose I could not do without. It is a clean healthy grower, and a free bloomer. If I wanted a bed of one rose it would be Shot Silk. It gives more blooms per plant than any other rose I know, is not troubled with mildew and the orange cerise colouring is perfect. The climbing variety is also good.
