Sept. 15/07.
The first 3 photos after I lost hundreds of images when my computer broke down in Nov. 2004 and the hard drive was not recoverable.
This is a closeup of the upper bloom in the 3 blooms photo 2 places over to the right.

A large plant of 'Rubies'n'Pearls will produce dozens of blooms.
This one had over 100 including the many buds not open yet.
THIS IS THE TREE-ROSE IN THE OTHER PHOTO, which broke off a year later after a heavy rain.

The same two fully open blooms as in the photo next to this. |
As a single bloom 'Rubies 'n' Pearls' will not always be of exhibition quality with high pointed centre, but it has a very decorative colour & form. The public very much likes this colour combination. There are only about 10 % of rosarians who are exhibitors !

Sept.15/07,
This is the first time in years that I took photos of this rose, with sun very low in late afternoon. |
Another informal arrangement taken with slide film.
Here the background is a more even blue. |
After a heavy rain this huge tree rose broke off at the bud-union.
125 cm is 4 feet & 1 inch. 70 cm is 2 feet & 4 inches.
I had this whole tree rose in a pail of water for 3 days. |

'Rubies 'n' Pearls' varies in colour. With age & sunshine blooms may change to a very dark purple.
