Introduced in France by Julien-Alexandre Hardy / Roseraie du Luxembourg in 1821 as 'Bourbon Centfeuilles'.
Introduced in France by Henri Neumann in 1824 as 'Rose Neumann'.
Introduced in Australia by Camden Park in 1843 as 'Edwardsii'.

Bourbon, Hybrid China.  

Pink or red.  Strong fragrance.  Average diameter 2".  Medium, very double, cupped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  

Height: 6'7" (200cm).  

USDA zone 5b through 10b.

Perhaps the first Bourbon...The rose cultivated in India as R. borboniana is actually 'Rose Edouard', however with 35-58 petals it is rather full (see reference of 2009 with photo).
This rose was called 'Bengale Neuman' after its introducer by Péan, 'Rose de l'Ile de France' by Dubreuil, 'Rose de Bourbon à fleurs pleines' by Prévost and 'Bengale Dubreuil' by Vibert.
Boitard says it was grown from seed sent to Hardy in 1822, and later introduced as a plant by Neuman.
'Rose Edouard' sold in USA is probably mislabeled. Member Kim Rupert says that the reddish semi-double Damask-like rose was sold by Pickering in the 90s and by Limberlost Roses even earlier.
A copy of the rose from the National Plant Collection of Victor Lewis, Braintree, Essex, was planted in Sangerhausen after 2011.
