Unfortunately, Pergolèse (Moreau et Robert, 1860), Comte de Chambord (Moreau et Robert 1860), Marie Robert (Moreau et Robert, circa 1860?), Jacques Cartier (Moreau-Robert, 1868), and Rembrandt (Moreau-Robert, 1883) all seem to be wrongly named.....Our Rembrandt is a Hybrid Perpetual and should be classed as such even if correctly identified.

'Rembrandt'. HP P[ortland] Reliable rebloom. Outstanding fragrance. Habit 2. [see p67 for sketch of habit] Moreau et Robert, 1883. Provenance. San Jose Heritage Rose Garden.
Deep bright red double flowers with flecks of white are born profusely on an upright, somewhat tall plant. This is not the original HP [1914 Hybrid Perpetual] of this name which was pink, [but the 1883 Damask Perpetual] and we are not certain that this is identical with the Portland rose of this name, which is what we received it as. Though it has some of the character of the Damask Perpetuals we feel there is too much of China about it to continue listing it with that class.
