ARS:
Deep pink Hybrid Rugosa.
Origin:
Bred by Eduard August von Regel (Germany, 1879).
Class:
Hybrid Rugosa.  
Bloom:
Deep pink, purple shading.  Moderate fragrance.  Average diameter 2.75".  Medium, full (26-40 petals), in small clusters bloom form.  Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, suckers on its own roots, upright.  

Height: up to 4' (up to 120cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 2b through 8b.  Can be used for hedge.  Very hardy.  very vigorous.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Grown from a batch of rugosa seed sent to St. Petersburg by K. J. Maximowicz and thought to be a spontaneous cross of Rosa rugosa and Rosa davurica. Pohjolan Kunigatar is quite common in Finland and Norway. Flowers are smaller and darker darker than those of Hansa, doesn't rebloom as well as Hansa, according to Peter Joy, Finnish Rose Society.
