Bred by Pedro (Pere) Dot (Spain, before 1925).
Introduced in France by Grandes Roseraies du Val de la Loire in 1927 as 'Marí Dot'.
Introduced in United States by Conard-Pyle (Star Roses) in 1927 as 'Marí Dot'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1929 as 'Marí Dot'.

Class:

Hybrid Tea, Pernetiana.

Bloom:

Coral - orange, salmon-pink highlights, lilac highlights, yellow undertones, ages to salmon-pink . Moderate, fruity fragrance. Medium to large, double (17-25 petals), in small clusters bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Medium, ovoid buds.

Habit:

Spreading, well-branched. Large, glossy, light green foliage.

Growing:

USDA zone 6b and warmer. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

Diane from New Hampshire sends along this information: This rose was just "featured" on a HGTV garden show from the Korbel Antique Rose Garden at the winery. It was gorgeous. As well as this description from Vintage Gardens Catalog: Epitome of the Pedro Dot rose; fruity-scented flowers on a very compact bush, in a lush blend of warm colors; bright salmon to salmon-pink on a peachy apricot base. Our plant offers few cuttings a year and we are likely to be back-ordered for some time, but this one is well worth the wait.
