(Ausorts)  Mortimer Sackler
A delicately beautiful, rather unusual climber, bearing pretty pointed buds which open to medium-sized, loosely double, light pink flowers.  Produced in large open sprays and held on slender dark stems, they gradually open to expose golden stamens.  There is a lovely, medium strength Old Rose fragrance with hints of fruit.  It is exceptionally healthy and almost thornless with relatively small, dark green leaves.  Davidﾠ Austin, 2002. The right to name this rose was auctioned on behalf of The National Trust to raise funds for their gardens.  It was bought by Theresa Sackler for her husband’s birthday.

Mortimer Sackler English Rose - bred by David Austin. Climbing Rose. A graceful rose, bearing large sprays of loosely double, soft pink flowers. It has a lovely Old Rose fragrance with delicious hints of fruit. Exceptionally healthy and repeat flowers well.

David  Austin presented six new English Roses. 'Mortimer Sackler' (shown right) is an almost thornless rose with delicate pink flowers. Described  as an extremely health plant with a lovely fragrance and small dark green leaves, it will make a tall upright shrub or climber. The right to name this rose was auctioned on behalf of The National Trust to raise funds for their gardens. It was bought by Mrs Sackler for  her husband's birthday.
